War of the Worlds (1953)

War of the Worlds is right on top of my list
of Old Science Fiction Movies.

It is a mean-Aliens-invade-the Earth movie - and
does not disappoint in that Respect.

Right from the start it brings on the Action - and
Really never stops - until the thin Slimey hand ceases
to move - like Capt. Miller when he Finds Peace at last.

The Special Effects are first rate - and the acting is
non-existent.

But I have a few Issues with these Early Sci-fi movies -
in spite of my great attraction to them:

~The women are allowed to be intelligent and beautiful -
but must cry and show weakness at any sign of danger -
must serve the coffee - all while wearing a dress.

~The heroes are Men - and handsome at that - and in this
particular movie the dumbest and first to be zapped by the
Aliens is a South of the Border Person and I'm sure there
are Smart People residing there too.

~Talk about somebody's idea of setting the standard for
type-casting and showing us what is what.

~The military always looks stupid in these movies - as a
Whole - but certainly today that would not Fly - with our
up to snuff really cool Troops.

~Even God is Glorified in the Early sci-fi movies - and I'm
not knocking that folks - but somehow that got last along
the way - however that is just their Opinion. : ]

~In the end - the Wisdom of the Sovereign Creator is blatantly
Obvious - when it is the common germ that puts the whole matter
to rest.

Really though - I actually love these Early Sci-Fi Movies
and actually feel better having gotten this off of my chest.

One final thing - I thought the remake of W of the W - starring
Tom Cruise was ablsolutely Fantastic - I just thought the director
got lost along the way when Tom did in Tim Robbins with the Shovel.

Was it something Personal?

Or what?
